New Breakthrough: Super tiny heart pacemaker
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of micra TPS, a micron-sized device that is only about the size of a vitamin pill.
Micra TPS heart pacemakers can last up to 12 years.
The size of the Micra TPS is one-tenth the size of conventional cardiac devices. It is also the first mini heart transplant approved by the US government.
Heart pacemakers are an indispensable tool to save a lot of patients, but their use is not always easy and convenient. With the advantage of size, Micra TPS will simplify the process of use, while improving the treatment of patients.
Medtronic, Ireland, has introduced the Micra TPS cardiac pacemaker test. The results show that 96% of patients feel completely comfortable with this device. At the same time, the rate for conventional cardiac pacemakers is 51%.
In addition to its micro-size, Micra TPS can operate for up to 12 years. This device will help patients perform MRIs without any danger.
