New drug for treatment of prostate cancer
The current treatment for prostate cancer is to limit the activity of male hormones because these hormones cause tumors to grow, so during the treatment of prostate cancer, the organs The production of male hormones such as testicles will be removed.
Recently, researchers at the University of California have introduced the MDV3100 drug to treat prostate cancer according to a completely different solution. This drug will prevent tumor cells from absorbing male hormones.
Doctors at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center tested the drug MDV3100 in 30 patients with severe prostate cancer who were resistant to current treatment drugs. After treatment, blood levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA-specific prostate) were reduced in 13 patients (43%). Doctors consider this a very promising result.
Based on the results of the study, pharmaceutical company Medivation is submitting to the US Food and Drug Administration for extensive testing of the drug.
