Photo of the asphalt roads, collapsing after a period of use may soon become a story of the past when VolkerWessels is testing a new, recyclable road material.

In addition to being reusable, the new plastic material also has a three times longer life span and is able to withstand a greater temperature difference between - 40 ° C and 80 ° C Their "fragile" appearance. This means that the plastic will be more resistant to the weight of the vehicles and the change in temperature of the environment. With this type of material, the construction unit can be dismantled more quickly and their structure is convenient for underground construction of cables and pipes.

This is only an initial test but VolkerWessels says it is perfectly possible to put the material into practical use in the future. The city of Rotterdam (the Netherlands) is very interested in this research and hopes to build such roads in the next three years.
