French cars are the most environmentally friendly

Automobile manufacturers France, Italy and Japan are the most environmentally friendly car manufacturers in 2006, according to a recent study by the European Institute of Environmental Policy.

This study uses data collected from the emissions of the 14 most sold vehicles in Europe in 2006.

Accordingly, the French brand PSA Peugeot Citroen is said to be the lowest CO 2 emissions in 2006 (143gr CO 2 / 1km); Italy's Fiat is second (145gr CO 2 / 1km), France's Renault ranks third (147gr CO 2 / 1km). Meanwhile, the two most popular and most sold car brands in Europe are Toyota and General Motors only ranked fourth (153gr CO 2 / 1km) and Friday (164gr CO 2 / 1km).

According to the study, BMW (Germany, the world's largest luxury car manufacturer), and Daimler Chrysler (USA) are the most polluting manufacturers in 2006. Meanwhile labels Ford, Volkswagen and Honda brands ranked in the middle group.

This report will be sent to European governments to adopt new bills on CO2 emission limits for cars. The team also called on manufacturers to reduce vehicle volume, one of the key factors to reduce CO 2 emissions and fuel consumption.
