New technology to make bicycles from nylon

European scientists have invented a completely new production technology that can take advantage of nylon, a yarn material to make bicycles as hard as a steel bike.

To a degree, the technology of manufacturing bicycles from the next generation fiber is like that of a 3D printer.

Nylon, plastic or metal materials must first be ground into fine powder. Then by computer programming, the laser dissolves fine powders and forms solid, solid layers, eventually forming the shape of a bicycle.

According to the European Aerospace and Defense Company (EADS), the method is not only able to create every shape according to the designer's wishes; the cost of fabrication is reduced by 65% traditional machinery, while the efficiency of using materials is significantly improved.

Currently, EADS scientists have built a bicycle from nylon fiber. The bike is very sturdy, its hardness is similar to the bike made of cast iron.

In the future, Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS, will build light aircraft by taking advantage of the technology.

According to some experts, the invention can be applied in the manufacture of missiles and the construction of space stations.
