Newly discovered that the world's most rare and rare dog is still alive and well

After decades of worrying, we finally have evidence that wild dogs in the New Guinea plateau have not been extinct in their natural habitat . Researchers have also confirmed the existence of many healthy living dogs and are currently hiding in one of the most remote and remote areas on Earth.

According to DNA analysis, the dog is one of the oldest and most primitive breeds ever lived, and recently published photographs show the remote central New Guinea slopes. There are at least 15 wild dogs (including males, females and juveniles) living far away from humans.

"The first discovery and confirmation of the existence of highland wild dogs during this half-century has not only made us excited, but it is also a great opportunity for science," the research team said. Save behind this discovery, The New Guinea Wild Animal Husbandry Foundation says.

"We were able to locate them, observe and record documents, collect precious biological samples, and by testing DNA we determined that at least some individuals of this wild dog is alive, and is living in the New Guinea plateau ".

In the past, people only took photos of these dogs twice. Once in 2005 and once in 2012, both shots were potential, but not once could scientists claim to be highland wild dogs. For over half a decade, no trace of them has appeared and scientists have feared that the breed is extinct. Maybe, they just hide too well.

Last year, the research team at NGHWDF went to Papua province in western New Guinea. Led by zoologist James K McIntyre, the team teamed up with local scientists at Papua University to find out how dogs have avoided humans for more than 50 years.

In September 2016, researchers found a dog footprint - a sign that they were on the right track. That trace and some other evidence have shown that there is a certain dog-like animal that has flocked to the jungles of the New Guinea plateau, a place far from sea level 3,460 to 4,400 meters.

A camera system was immediately installed at this location, a "bait" area was prepared. And in just 2 days, the camera captured 140 images of the Highland Wild Dog, which was captured by Puncak Jaya - the highest peak of Mount Carstensz and also the highest peak in the world.

The team was also able to observe and record the first official image of this dog, and DNA analysis through the specimen left behind showed that the Highland Dog had relatives of the dingos. Australia and the New Guinea dog breed - a hybrid breed descended from the New Guinea wild dog.

Unfortunately, we still don't have enough evidence to prove exactly how these dogs are linked, but with further analysis, we hope that we will get more specific information. These are the best clues we have to understand how dogs evolve from ancient times.

As NGHWFD explains:

"Fossil specimens indicate that this dog has settled on the island for about 6,000 years ago and was believed to have come here with humans. However, new evidence indicates that this dog finds itself. The road to the island has nothing to do with people ".

They added that although the relationship of the Highland Dog with the other two dogs is still a very controversial topic and is still being reviewed, the importance (in both science and history) still very high value: we will understand the evolution of dogs, the close relationship between our species and them, thereby understanding more about the evolution of people themselves.

In these pictures, the Highland Wild Dogs still have the common beauty of the dogs we see: most of them have yellow fur, next to black or cream-colored feathers; their tails pry up like Shiba Inu today; All children (observed so far) have prickly triangle ears, erect above their heads.

Although there is no evidence yet, the researchers believe that the Wild Dog also has a distinctive barking voice like its descendants in New Guinea, which has made them a strange name "singing dog." - singing dog ".

According to the statistics of NGHWDF, there are currently about 300 New Guinea singing dogs in the world, they live in the zoo, private conservation facilities and this dog in addition to a special voice, they often mix with each other to create a piece of music that can take several minutes. Scientists will continue to study this dog and will soon release more scientific reports in the next few months.

Still good news, scientists are also very optimistic about the future of these dogs and their survival opportunities. Local mining companies have been tasked with implementing special environmental controls, in remote areas as well as ecosystems around their facilities.

Welcome to the light of science and discovery, New Guinea Wild Dog !
