This is the third international exhibition in this field in Hanoi, after the first (2004) introduction of nuclear and second generation technologies (2006) focusing on economic and safety fields. .

In addition to the exhibition space of Vietnam on research results and preparation for specific projects of our country, countries such as Japan, Korea, Canada, China and France will introduce their capabilities in setting up design, manufacture, build, operate . nuclear power plants, which are the basis for the choice of Vietnamese partners later.

Facing the threat of power shortage and the rapid increase in coal and oil prices, the Government recently agreed to speed up and double the scale of Vietnam's first nuclear power project, from 2,000 to 4,000 MW. It is expected to have 2 factories in two locations in Ninh Thuan province, Phuoc Dinh commune (Ninh Phuoc district) and Vinh Hai commune (Ninh Hai district). Each factory has 2 units, each has a capacity of 1,000 MW.

However, until now, Vietnam has not officially selected any technology for the factory, because according to an industry expert, especially for nuclear power, "choosing a technology means choosing a partner, and It is no different from choosing a hundred-year partner, because they will accompany us for centuries ".

"Vietnam is one of 30 countries that are requesting the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to help build the first nuclear power plant. And according to IAEA's evaluation, we have conducted preparations. quite methodical, ' said Vuong Vuong Tan, Associate Professor.

Associate Professor Vuong Huu Tan, Director of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission, said in principle, we will choose the technology of Europe, modern, but it has to be verified. Therefore, Vietnam will not be able to immediately apply the latest technologies in the world, because they are not yet tested.

There are also concerns about the consciousness of Vietnamese manpower is not high, will cause insecurity in the management and operation of nuclear power plants. Mr. Tan said it was because of this concern, that Vietnam advocated that some of the first nuclear power plants would be implemented in turn-turn, and foreign partners would support us both in terms of construction. manage.

This exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
