Next week, snowstorms can happen in China

Emergency rescue teams are rushing to restore power systems in southern China damaged by unusually heavy snowstorms. Yesterday (February 8), meteorologists forecast the area to suffer more snowstorms next week.

As of February 7, nearly two-thirds of the power lines were cut off because the snowstorms were restored. Emergency relief ships transported 400,000 tons of potatoes, onions, turnips and a variety of food and vegetables to the most affected areas.

The strong and prolonged snowstorms caused many areas of China to suffer heavy losses. Tens of millions of people have difficulties in planning to go back to Tet. Military forces were mobilized to clean up the railroads and the country wading and participating in relief work.

The Chinese Bureau of Meteorology said that another round of cold air could spill south of China in the next 4-10 days, bringing rain and snow. However, this cold air phase is weaker than in previous periods.

As of today, most airports and highways in China must be closed because bad weather has returned. Blizzard has killed at least 80 people, direct economic losses are about 80 billion yuan ($ 11 billion).
