Many previous studies have shown that outdoor activity can help people reduce the risk of neurological diseases and increase their satisfaction with life. But no scientist has found the minimum amount of time that we have to do outdoor activities to get benefits.
Reuters said, Essex University scientists, USA analyzed personal data of 1,252 people with different gender, age and health status in the UK. They focused on studying people who regularly perform outdoor activities such as jogging, gardening, cycling, fishing, sailing, horseback riding.
Scientists have seen many positive physical and mental changes in those who regularly work outdoors. However, the most positive changes occur in young people and subjects with neurological diseases. It is worth noting that outdoor activities in a clean and airy environment increase people's morale and self-esteem, even when the activity only takes place in 5 minutes.
"We believe that individuals and societies benefit if people exercise regularly in outdoor spaces," said Jo Barton, lead researcher in a journal article. Environmental Science & Technology.
The research team believes that authorities should develop policies to encourage people to spend more time in garden, park and other outdoor activities. According to Barton, outdoor activities can be carried out in any natural environment. However, he said areas with trees and water could bring more positive effects.
