Paper helmets can be folded

An American designer has just introduced the idea of a special helmet that can be folded to the size of a banana.

In developed countries like the US, bicycles become a convenient and fast means of transportation. On the streets, bike rental stations can easily be found at affordable prices. However, people can only rent a car, and a helmet must carry it.

According to CNN, Ms. Isis Shiffer, a 28-year-old designer, thought of a foldable paper helmet that was easy to carry. Or bikers can buy this kind of hat called EcoHelmet in the store cabinets located right at the bike rental station.

"A hat has a price of about 5USD or less. When the journey is over, you just need to put the hat in the garbage at the station," explained Ms. Shiffer.

Thanks to cardstock paper (a kind of hard paper) with a honeycomb design that evenly disperses the impact force, the hat can completely protect the user as a normal hat. Hats are covered with biodegradable wax extracted from corn to help waterproof.

Isis's idea has just won the James Dyson 2016 competition for innovative students to help solve problems in society.

While studying at Pratt Academy in New York, Isis spent a year and a half studying and perfecting the design of the hat.

She wants to create a cheap, safe, recyclable product that anyone can buy.

Currently, Isis and colleagues are conducting more detailed tests to check the safety of the hat and ensure the ability to sell in the US market.

The 28-year-old is also working with potential partners and investors to turn ideas into specific products.

"I want to bring safety to cyclists, but also want to protect the city environment , " the young inventor shared.
