Parrots also know the language
According to a Japanese study published in Mainichi Shimbun, the parrots are not only able to imitate people's voices, but also have the ability to distinguish languages like English and Chinese.
To reach this conclusion, the Keio University team gave parrots like Java to listen to recordings of English and Chinese translations of two famous works in Japan.
The first group of parrots are only allowed to eat after jumping up and down next to the English transmitter. The second group of parrots can only be eaten after jumping on a pole with Chinese language. In 75% of cases, parrots have distinguished their voices to allow them to eat and jump right. Japanese is not used, because it is the voice that parrots often hear every day.
Professor Shigeru Watanabe of Keio University's Department of Experimental Psychology concluded that parrots are also capable of distinguishing language, even languages they do not know, thanks to the tone and pronunciation.
