People know how to use an oven at least 300,000 years ago

Scientists have just announced the discovery of a 300,000-year oven in Qesem cave (near the city of Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel ).

This helps them better understand the behavior of the community in the cave during this period, the US news agency UPI reported on January 28.

" We unearthed a pit containing a mixture of wood ash and animal bones in the Qesem cave, showing people digging this hole to grill meat ," said researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel.

The findings have just been published in the Journal of Archeological Science, the Journal of Archaeological Science, around the oven where they also found flint tools used to cut and create barbecues.

Experts believe ancient people discovered fire about 1 million years ago; and the discovery of a 300,000-year oven in Israel shows that people know how to use fire well and develop a social hierarchy.
