Philippines officially established space agency

PhilSA is the main body responsible for addressing all national issues and activities on space science and technology applications.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte recently signed the Philippine Space Law (RA11363) , thereby establishing the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA).

According to a reporter in Southeast Asia, President Duterte emphasized that the Philippines should establish a consistent and consistent strategy for the exploitation and use and development of space to catch up with other countries in the field of science and space technology.

The Act stipulates that PhilSA is the main body responsible for addressing all national issues and activities on spatial science and technology applications.

PhilSA is also an agency with key management, enforcement, coordination, planning and policy formulation to develop and promote a national space program in line with the Philippine Space Policy.

The Philippine Space Law also introduced the Philippine Space Use and Development Policy (also known as the Philippine Space Policy), considering it a major strategic roadmap to support, consolidate and make the Philippines a nation. Households have spatial capacity within the next decade.

According to the content of this new law, priority areas include spatial science and technology applications (SSTAs) aimed at solving national problems, promoting effective exploitation and use. assets and spatial resources, establishing measures to build capacity for human resource development, strengthening national defense and promoting international cooperation.

The Philippine Space Law will also focus on six key areas including National Security and Development, Climate Research and Risk Management, Space Research and Development, Building Space Industry Capacity, Education and spatial awareness and international cooperation.

In addition, the Philippine Space Law also provides for the establishment of the Philippine Space Council (PSC) as President, acting as the main advisory body for coordination and integration of policies, programs and resources that affect the application of science and technology.
