The Vietnam Space Technology Research and Application Committee, referred to as the Vietnam Space Committee, will soon be established to help the Prime Minister organize the implementation of the "Research and application strategy." space technology by 2020 ".

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem has just signed Decision 137/2006 / QD-TTg approving " Strategy for research and application of space technology to 2020 ".

Along with the Space Commission, a Space Technology Institute will also be built.

Space Committee, Institute of Space Technology is located at the Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology (Science and Technology).

The Institute has the task of studying basic issues related to space science and technology; preside over research and development of small satellite technology; to assume the prime responsibility for formulating and submitting for approval and organizing the implementation of an independent science and technology program on aerospace technology (IT), a key laboratory project on aerospace technology.

The strategy of research and application of space technology to 2020 will be implemented with the viewpoint of practical and effective service in socio-economic development.

By 2010, Vietnam will form national policies and legal framework for research, application and international cooperation in aerospace technology.

At the same time, to build the initial infrastructure of aerospace technology, including the collection station and the center for processing satellite images, the system of satellite navigation stations; launch and operation and exploitation of VINASAT geostationary satellite satellites; receiving small satellite technology transfer; completed the design, fabrication and launch of 1 small satellite observing the earth; completed construction and put into operation the respective ground control stations.

According to this strategy, along with attracting overseas Vietnamese working in this field, Vietnam will organize training of domestic IT engineers; cooperating in research and training with developed countries in the science and technology sector to obtain a number of highly qualified experts, self-manufacture some hardware products (equipment of the collecting station) and software (image processing software, encryption software, information security, satellite design assistance software .).

"Space technology research and application strategy to 2020 " aims to 2010, Vietnam will reach the regional average level of infrastructure and research and application of aerospace technology.

By 2020, Vietnam will master the technology of manufacturing ground stations, self-fabricating competitive price ground stations; mastering small satellite technology, designing and manufacturing small satellites to observe the earth; mastering rocket technology and techniques; training highly qualified cadres, meeting the needs of the application and development of space technology in Vietnam, upgrading and promoting effectively the infrastructure invested in the previous period.

Lessons learned about aerospace technology development of some countries:

- The first lesson, the most important in the research and application of the universe is the need for high determination of the leadership of the country.

- Second, promote international cooperation, acquire experience and technology to develop effectively, quickly and sustainably.
