Establishing Vietnam Space Committee

On September 17, 2010, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1720 / QD-TTg to establish the Vietnam Space Commission.

Picture 1 of Establishing Vietnam Space Committee The Vietnam Space Commission is an advisory body to help the Prime Minister study, direct and coordinate to solve interdisciplinary issues in the implementation of the space technology research and application strategy till 2020 ( Strategy). The tasks and powers of the Vietnam Space Commission are to study and propose to the Prime Minister the program, plan and measures to implement the Strategy for each period; help the Prime Minister to direct, regulate, coordinate and urge relevant agencies to implement the Strategy; official representative for Vietnam at international organizations for space technology; biannually or irregularly upon request, reporting to the Prime Minister on the operation situation of the Vietnam Space Commission; perform other tasks assigned by the Prime Minister.

The Minister of Science and Technology holds the position of Chairman of the Committee. Two Vice Chairmen of the Committee include the President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a Vice Minister of Science and Technology. The members of the Vietnam Space Committee include 1 representative of the leaders of the ministries: Information and Communication, Natural Resources and Environment, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Transport; Director of Department of Technology Application and Development, Ministry of Science and Technology; Director of the Space Technology Institute, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; 3 scientists in the field of space technology.

Based on practical requirements, the Chairman of the Vietnam Space Commission may invite experts, scientists and representatives of a number of professional organizations in space technology to advise the Committee. Members of the Vietnam Space Commission work on a part-time basis.
