Picasso's painting costs a record VND 3,400 billion

Stephen Cohen, owner of SAC Capital Advisors, bought a picture of the "Dream" of Picasso for $ 155 million (equivalent to VND 3,400 billion) from casino owner Steve Wynn, according to US television news agency Bloomberg. This is the highest price paid for an art work by an American painting collector.

The "Dream" picture of Picasso.

A few years ago, this painting broke the price record of a picture that the former owner, considered a lack of vision, sold at a much lower price, only $ 139 million (equivalent to about 3,058 billion VND Vietnam). Naturally, the price increase is partly due to the additional cost of restoring the painting.

The picture of "Dream" is a picture of Marie-Therese Walter, in the background of the painting is recorded as a model and lover of Picasso. Picasso met her in 1927, when he was 45, and Walter was only 17 years old. For years, he helped her financially and they had a daughter together. She also appeared in pictures of other artists.

Cohen is one of America's largest art collectors. He began buying paintings since 2001, with the first picture being ' Self-portrait with color palette' (Self-portrait with Palette) by Edouard Manet.

SAC is a large investment group, managing a capital of up to USD 15 billion. 60% of this capital is from Cohen and his trusted people.
