Prehistoric vestiges discovered in Dak Nong through archaeological excavations
During archaeological excavations in Dak Nong, the archaeological team discovered many artifacts that are traces of prehistoric people, appearing thousands of years ago.
The excavation site in village 7, Dak Dro commune (Krong No district) was discovered by the geological survey team of Dr. La The Phuc (Vietnam Archaeological Association) since 2022.
Here, the group discovered quartz stone artifacts that bear many similarities to the Stone Age and are distributed over a large area.
Through the findings, the Vietnam Archaeological Association sent a report to the People's Committee of Dak Nong province proposing measures to research and excavate this relic.
Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to allow the Dak Nong Provincial Museum to coordinate with the Central Highlands Institute of Social Sciences to conduct archaeological excavations at this location.
Accordingly, the excavated area is 26m2 . Excavation period is from March 1-26.
Mr. Duc shared that after many days of excavation, the group discovered many prehistoric artifacts.
"Through the artifacts, it can be seen that this is a relic that represents a prehistoric development period of the Central Highlands ," Mr. Duc said.
At the excavation site, the archaeological team worked very carefully. Each area and bag containing artifacts is marked in detail.
Members of the archaeological team marked and took photos of the locations where artifacts were discovered.
Expert Luong Thi Tuat participated in the excavation of the relic.
According to Dr. La The Phuc, through the discovered artifacts, the site may be the oldest relic in Dak Nong province.
After searching and selecting, the archaeological team cleaned and adjusted the artifacts.
