Prepare to install the world's largest telescope
Thirty Meter, a joint project between the US, Canada, Japan, China and India, will produce the world's largest telescope after its completion in 2018.
>>>The largest telescope in the world comes into operation
Thirty Meter will be placed on Mount Mauna Kea in Hawaii. The main mirror of Thirty Meter is nearly 30m long, allowing 9 times the light gathering of the largest optical telescope today. Images provided by Thirty Meter are therefore 3 times as sharp.

With this giant telescope, scientists can observe newly formed planets and stars, objects 13 billion light-years away from Earth or learn the origin of extrasolar planets. The sun, black holes, dark matter and dark energy.
The inter-national project is expected to cost about $ 1 billion. In which China and India will contribute at least 20% of the cost, mainly equipment. This is the first advanced telescope that both China and India are partners.
'Thirty Meter is a leap forward in China's quantum technology,' said Shude Mao, a professor of astronomy at the China Astronomical Observatory.
'The project is a huge step forward in Indian astronomical science. From creating only 4m mirrors, we are now participating in the project of installing telescopes with a diameter of nearly 8 times. This will certainly bring India's astronomical science to a new level, ' said GS GC Anupama at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
However, Thirty Meter is not the largest telescope. Europe will complete the larger telescope, the mirror of this glass will have a diameter of 42m.
