The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) is one of the largest telescopes built by humans, allowing scientists to observe distant planets in an "unprecedented detail".

When construction is completed, this type of glass will display 10 times the resolution of the Hubble space telescope. Besides, GMT can measure spectra of objects very far away.
GMT glass is located on Chile's Atacama desert. It was completed after 10 years and required accuracy, special care, Popsci reported.
Seven 'perfect mirrors' , each weighing 20 tons, were installed in a structure as tall as a 22-storey building. The mirror quality and its size are extremely important.
Dr Pat McCarthy, director of GMT, said: 'We have to build very carefully so that the glass can capture light from places 5 to 10 billion light-years from Earth.'
"We will witness firsthand the formation of the first galaxies, the formation of supernovae and black holes, studying the universe at a farther distance than before ," said Dr. Wendy Freedman.
