Private take the spacecraft to the international space station
According to NASA, California-based private missile company SpaceX is planning to launch a Dragon transport ship in February 2012.
Dragon will be launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Base on February 7, 2012 on Falcon boosters 9.
This is the 2nd space mission of Falcon 9 and Dragon. Previously this rocket and spacecraft successfully carried out a historic flight into space in December 2010.
'SpaceX has made incredible progress in the final months of preparing for the mission to fly Dragon's International Space Station (ISS) , said NASA's William Gerstenmaier. 'We hope the flight will be successful and open a new era in transporting goods to ISS'.
Since the end of the shuttle program in July this year, the United States has to rely on Russia to bring its supplies and crew to the station.
To encourage commercial space transport to grow, NASA has partnered with two companies, SpaceX and Virginia, with two contracts worth $ 1.6 billion and $ 1.9 billion. The successful flight will help America reach the International Space Station again and maintain the least research activity until 2020.
