The building has French colonial architecture built in 1860. Previously, this place was the Director of Internal Affairs, which had a direct executive role in the colonial, judicial and financial affairs of the colony.People also call this place the Thuong Tho Palace.In terms of government at that time, the building played an important role only after Norodom's Palace (the previous version of the Reunification Palace today).This photo was taken in the 20s of the last century, at the corner of Tu Do - Gia Long Street, now Dong Khoi - Ly Tu Trong.
In the picture is the front of the Palace seen from the corner of Catinat - De Lagrandière in the early twentieth century.
The project consists of a block of houses in the center of the street, turning to Ly Tu Trong street, connecting with two blocks of houses on both sides forming a U shape, hugging the courtyard in the middle.Inside there are four wooden stairs leading up to the upper floor, located near the entrance and two corners of the building.
