Registering to patent vaccines for fish
TP Biotechnology Center HCM has filed a patent application for vaccination against pneumococcal liver disease in pangasius.
The vaccine uses the WZZ gene mutation method on Edwardsiella ictaluri.

Edwardsiella ictaluri is one of the causes of pus in liver and kidney disease. Therefore, scientists at the Department of Aquatic Biotechnology, TP Biotechnology Center. Ho Chi Minh City caused the WZZ gene mutation on Edwardsiella ictaluri, which caused this bacteria from a pathogenic strain to become a non-toxic strain.
When the gene was mutated, the bacteria existed in fish for several months. However, it will not cause fish disease but will stimulate fish to create immunity against this bacterium.
According to KS. Tran Hanh Triet, TP Biotechnology Center. HCM said, Edwardsiella ictaluri bacteria causes pus and liver kidney disease in juveniles from 21 days old onwards, causing damage from 60-90%. If the farmers do not cure in time, the fish will die in mass and have a fast spread.
The Center scientists have successfully tested the above vaccine in the laboratory scale.
