Relax today, learn better tomorrow

Taking time to rest and reflect on what you have learned will help people improve their future learning ability.

>>>Why do minds need rest?

To conduct the study, scientists from the University of Texas at Austin, USA asked the volunteer team to perform two learning tasks. First they have to memorize a series of related images, then they take time to rest and think about whatever they choose in the middle of memory tests.

FMRI brain scanners indicate that those who use their free time to rest and recall the information that scored higher in later tests. More specifically, this is still true when the information of the tests is completely different. The study was published in Science World Report.

"For the first time, we have demonstrated how the brain processes information at rest and relaxation, which can improve learning performance soon afterwards. At the same time recalling previous learning can be improve learning in the future, " said Alison Preston, a professor of psychology and neuroscience who led the study.

"Nothing happens separately, when you learn something new, you associate everything you know with new information. That way, you put new information into your current knowledge. Yes , " said Alison Preston.
