Archaeologists of the Royal Tyrrell paleontological museum identified the 8-meter-long dinosaur fossil as an adult dinosaur and dated about 68 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period.
According to archaeologists, this is an important finding because although it is no longer bone, most of the skeleton shape of this fossil dinosaur is found to be intact.
Previously, bone fragments of duckbill dinosaurs were found many times in barren lands in Alberta, however the detection of a skeleton shape complete with bone-connecting positions like when the animal was Living is very rare.
Last month, a pipeline construction team in Northwest Alberta also discovered the fossil of a larger and longer-shaped duckbill dinosaur.
According to scientists, in the Cretaceous period, duck-billed dinosaurs are very popular in western North America and have a length of up to 12m as adults.
The dinosaur fossils were stored at the Royal Tyrrell Museum for research.
