Robot avatar
Nobody can stand loneliness, and experts from Yamagata University (Japan) are investing in developing a robot that can follow you anywhere.

MH-2 (with 'miniature humanoid' abbreviation, ie robot micro) is a type of robot that can be carried on the shoulder, according to gizmodo.com website.
MH-2 in fact (left) and its perfect goal
It acts as an avatar, imitating a specific object's speech and movements and allowing the person to interact with the avatar.
To make it easy to understand, when traveling somewhere, you want to have a companion, such as a relative or friend, at your side and share. However, that person cannot go along.
In this case, MH-2 can replace the role of a companion.
At home, the friend in front of the 360-degree 3D screen is equipped with a sensor like Kinect, allowing them to see the scene through the robot's camera. In the meantime, robots on people's shoulders will act like an avatar, repeating the movements and words of their friends at home.
The study was presented at the 2012 Robot and Automatic Engineering Conference in St. Petersburg. Paul, State of Minnesota (USA).
