Russian military satellites went missing when separated from the boosters
A Soyuz-2.1B rocket carries two satellites launched from the Plesetsk space airport in the area of Arkhangelsk, northwestern Russia, the Russian Defense Ministry wrote on the website on December 5 that the launch has been successful.

Kanopus-ST is a dual-purpose satellite designed to scan the earth's oceans throughout the optical range and UHF. It was built for 10 years and is considered an advanced device, according to Kommersant.

This is the second time the Soyuz-2.1B missile is used to launch objects into low-earth orbit. The first time the missile performed its mission was at the end of December 2013.
