In essence, the Ka-90 concept was first introduced at the HeliRussia-2008 international aviation exhibition in Moscow.
The Ka-90 is said to be the first helicopter model in the world , combining the characteristics of a conventional helicopter and aircraft. According to internal sources, the aircraft will apply rotor rotor blades for vertical take-off / landing.
When the aircraft reaches a speed of 400 km / h, an aircraft engine will be started and the rotor blades will be folded down behind the aircraft. When flying in 'normal mode', the Ka-90 can reach speeds of up to 700-800km / h.
Kamov's chief designer, Sergei Mikheev, said that the Ka-90 project was originally formed in 1985, but was later stopped by the collapse of the Soviet Union.
