Russia evacuated tens of thousands of people because of flooding

The situation of flooding in Siberia region of Russia continues to be complicated. More than 20,000 people here have had to evacuate urgently, which are mainly residents of the Altai Republic.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situation on June 2 said so far, floodwaters have submerged about 7,500 houses, causing more than 21,000 people to fall into "landslide", with about 8,400 farms, two roads. and 6 bridges were badly damaged.

In Altai, the number of submerged residential areas now stands at 60, doubling from the previous day, seriously affecting the lives of nearly 20,000 local people. Up to now, one person has died and five people have gone missing due to flood water in this area.

In the Republic of Khakassia, the flood situation has shown signs of improvement when the number of flooded residential areas begins to decline. In the Tuva Republic there are no flooded residential areas.

The Russian government quickly announced an emergency situation in flooded areas from May 31, and carried out rescue operations to overcome and secure people's lives.

The Russian Emergency Ministry launched a large-scale rescue operation in Siberia, quickly dispatching forces and technical facilities and humanitarian assistance to flooded areas.

Currently more than 2,000 rescue workers and more than 630 equipment, including aircraft, boats, canoes have been mobilized to disaster relief.
