Russia launches cargo ships Progress M-05M to ISS

On April 28, the unmanned cargo spacecraft called Russia's M-05M Progress was launched into the orbit by United-U rocket launchers at 17:15 (GMT) carrying supplies and Scientific equipment for the International Space Station (ISS).

This is the second Russian spacecraft to be launched in 2010.

Train Progress The M-05M has begun an automatic flight 10 minutes after being launched and is expected to be assembled with ISS on May 1.

The ship carries more than 2.6 tons of goods, including food, candy, medicine, drinking water, fuel and scientific equipment, as well as film discs and family books and newspapers for astronauts on ISS.

ISS station currently has three Russian astronauts, two Americans and a Japanese.

As the primary means of transporting goods to Russia for long periods of time, the Progress ship was also used to regulate ISS trajectories and conduct scientific experiments.

The new generation of Progress ship has a smaller weight and is equipped with modern digital control systems to help ship with ISS more accurately.
