Russia successfully prepared anti-smoking vaccine

Russian scientists have successfully developed the world's first anti-smoking vaccine.

>>>Electronic cigarettes are still harmful to users

This is considered a breakthrough in the field of tobacco prevention, and can reduce the number of deaths in the world related to smoking, currently up to 6 million people every year.

Mr. Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Selecta deputy general director, produced the above vaccine, said the vaccine is being tested in the second phase and can be widely sold at pharmacies in the next five years. This new vaccine promises to be much more effective than all the existing smoking cessation methods in the world.

The detoxification mechanism of the vaccine after being injected into the body is to help the body create a blockade of antibodies that take nicotine before it reaches the brain.

Previously, Selecta researchers created a nanoparticle capable of transporting vaccines to each immune-response cell.

Antibodies produced by the vaccine combine nicotine molecules in the blood into larger and larger units that are not able to pass through the brain defense barrier against harmful substances and infections. Thus, nicotine will not be able to penetrate the "control center" of the brain, and as a result smoking will not be able to evoke feelings of pleasure and comfort. This is the way to break human dependence on tobacco.

The project to prepare anti-smoking vaccines has been awarded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
