There is a vaccine for smoking cessation
By altering the properties of nicotine before the toxin reaches the heart and brain, scientists have developed a new vaccine capable of neutralizing tobacco addiction.
Nicotine addiction is a habit that is hard to give up with most 'eyebrow whiskers' . However, that worry will no longer be present. Researchers at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York have published a report in Science Translational Medicine, saying they have succeeded in developing a potential vaccine for nicotine addiction. Through experiments in mice, vaccines inhibit the effects of nicotine before entering the heart or brain.
The mechanism of the vaccine is based on stimulating the liver to secrete antibodies that kill nicotine as soon as it enters the bloodstream, helping to prevent the spread of nicotine through the blood circulation. Although previous therapies were quite successful in this, they were not effective for long. With the new vaccine, the function of producing antibodies in the liver can work for a lifetime with a single injection, at least that is what we get in mice.
This progress opens us up to a prospect of a not-so-distant future, when people can escape the temptation to seduce from cigarettes after using the vaccine. Of course, you can still choose to enjoy your passion when you drop your soul with the sweet smoke, but your smoking addiction is almost zero. This will definitely be good news for 'heavy smokers' after trying many treatments and still 'relapse' successfully.
