Safe, safe carbon storage technology breakthrough
After more than three years of research and implementation of the carbon gas storage project west of Melbourne city, the Australian team of scientists said carbon gas storage technology is very effective and safe, and is breakthrough in modern society.
>>>Greenhouse emissions soared to a record
This group of scientists from Australia's Scientific and Industrial Research Organization said that the collection and storage of carbon from the power plants could be done on a large scale before 2020.
In March 2008, these scientists began pumping carbon dioxide into the deep underground near the port city of Warrnambool in Victoria, southern Australia. So far they have pumped 65,000 tons of gas-rich CO 2 into a bag of finished natural gas, located deep underground about 2km. According to the team, there is no sign that carbon dioxide leaks out of the tank sealed underground.
Scientist Charles Jenkins said: "This approach can have a tremendous impact on the effort to reduce global pollution caused by greenhouse gas emissions. There are many gas wells. "The burning is done and these are the ideal places to do this. Our estimate is that after 2050 we can remove about 2-thirds of the carbon dioxide generated from large sources of emissions."
The method of underground storage of carbon emissions emitted from power plants and other industrial locations has been recognized as a kind of clean technology at an international climate conference held in Durban in South Africa. earlier this month.
