Scary hallucinations when staring at other people's eyes for too long
The world around us still has many strange phenomena and many interesting things to be answered, and Caputo's experiment is one of those that can help us understand more about the illusion.
Staring at other people's eyes for too long will cause you to have a terrifying hallucination
Staring at someone's eyes for a long enough time will make you lose consciousness . Giovanni Caputo, an illusionist researcher at the University of Urbino (Italy), said this interesting fact. A few years ago, he invited 50 volunteers to participate in the experiment, which asked them to stare at their photos on the mirror for 10 minutes in the room of very weak light conditions. And the strange thing is that many of them start to see strange things in less than 1 minute.
Their faces begin to deform and change in the direction of the animal's, monster's or even the faces of dead relatives. But this strange phenomenon is even more " terrible " when he changes the mirror into another person.
Caputo experimented with 40 young people and arranged them to sit in pairs, each pair would sit in a dimly lit room, sitting 1 meter apart. The amount of light is adjusted just enough so that participants can see details on the opponent's face, but the ability to identify colors is almost very difficult.
In these couples, he divided in half, half sitting opposite each other and staring at each other; meanwhile the other half will sit against each other and stare at the wall. To get the most accurate results, participants were not aware of the purpose of this experiment.
After 10 minutes, the participants were asked to answer questions about their experience in the room, from which he received replies about quite interesting phenomena. It is known that people in the face-to-face group describe that the ability to identify colors gradually disappears and the noise particles gradually get louder. Time seems to slow down and they feel like being drunk. In addition, 90% of them said that the face of the opposite person was changed, of which 75% saw the demonic shape and even the remaining 15% saw the facial features of their loved ones being grafted onto them. opposite.
When we stare at a central point for a long enough time, certain perimeter traits will gradually disappear and create hallucinations , or "faded Troxler" states. If some visual information is missing, the human brain will process and fill these gaps based on what they expect or things they have experienced, Caputo said.
