Scientific proof: left-handed people are better at math
With many proven advantages, left-handed people have the ability to outperform mathematical knowledge and figurative thinking compared to right-handed people.
The latest Telegraph study page of scientists shows the relationship between the left hand and the mathematical skills of many people. The study was conducted on 2,300 primary and secondary students in Italy.
Former US President Obama is also a left-handed person.
In order to evaluate better thinking skills in mathematics, students are required to complete a math questionnaire and test Edinburgh Handedness Inventory, which asks about which hands they often use for tasks such as writing , drawing or throwing.
It is known that the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory test is a scale that evaluates a person's left-handed or right-handed level. The figure ranges from -100 to 100. This test allows determining the surveyor's left-handed or right-handed level.
Left-handed students show superiority to other students in difficult, complex forms. They accomplish quite a bit of difficult tasks like linking math functions or collecting data. However there are not many major differences between the two groups of students when performing simple arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
The link between the results shows that in reality, left-handed people have long been claimed by scientists to have more right-developed brains than right-handed people. However, only one-third of people with the right hemisphere of the brain are left-handed. So many right-handed people have similar brain functions.
In addition, students said they prefer to use the right hand for less skilled tests among all tests.
Choosing to use hands is a manifestation of brain function and cognitive involvement. Left-handed people with the right hemisphere must develop more, while the ability to connect between the two hemispheres is better. It is these advantages that allow left-handed people to have impressive logical and logical abilities.
But it must be confirmed that the use of hands is only an indirect manifestation of brain function. Because most left and right-handed people have similar brain structures. The difference is almost not really clear.
It is estimated that only 10-13.5% of the world's population is left-handed. Especially 4 out of 6 most recent US presidents were left-handed: Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George HW Bush, and Ronald Reagan. While Donald Trump and George W Bush are right-handed.
The corpus callosum - the connection between the two brains on left-handed people tends to be larger than usual.
In addition, there are many great people, businessmen, celebrities in the history and modern times today that are left-handed and single-handed like Leonardo da Vinci, Mark Twain, Mozart, Marie Curie, Nicola Tesla and Aristotle. Or the world's richest businessman Bill Gates and famous football player Lionel Messi.
Previously there were many contrary studies around left-handed people. Many scholars believe that left-handedness is not related to any advantage in cognitive skills. Even left-handed also adversely affects the general cognitive function. Meanwhile, another large-scale study on a group of 5-14 year-old children showed that left-handed people exhibited less mathematical ability.
