Scientists launch a million-dollar project to

The program, called Breakthrough Listen Initiative, is expected to focus on listening to all the sounds from millions of extraterrestrial stars over the course of 60 days in search of life outside of Earth.

Has been started since 2015 but until now, the Breakthrough Listen Initiative project has been officially tested for the first time.

The goal of the Breakthrough Listen Initiative is to " listen" to the sound reflected from millions of stars in the galaxy and search for alien life. This trial will use the Parkes CSIRO Radio Telescope in New South Wales, Australia.

Thanks to a significant upgrade of multi-beam projection technology, the CSIRO Parkes telescope can listen to more locations in the galaxy with up to 13 beams.

The beams emitted by the Parkes CSIRO telescope will survey nearly 1 million stars.

According to Interesting Engineering, the Parkes CSIRO telescope system has high-speed information transmission, up to 130Gb / s, 1000 times the fastest Internet connection of households. The fast connection speed also means that the system can handle up to 100 petabytes of data, equivalent to the data that Facebook can store in 2012.

Beams emitted from the CSIRO Parkes telescope will survey nearly 1 million stars, planets and the center of the galaxy. In addition, the beam can spread to 100 galaxies closest to the Milky Way. All data collected will be public to all people around the world.

Danny Price, a researcher from the project shared: "We are scanning the Milky Way in an unprecedented way. By reviewing the huge data collected, we hope to explore. There is a lot of evidence that confirms Earth, one of hundreds of billions of Milky Way planet is not the only place where life exists ".

The project is worth up to 100 million USD and is the most comprehensive, intensive and sensitive search program ever made. Even so, the world still has many other programs and projects seeking alien life. Including 3 typical projects below:

  1. Breakthrough Message is a contest worth $ 1 million. This competition seeks to find the most "expensive" message, representing all humanity and the Earth sent to distant planets.
  2. Breakthrough Watch , a multi-million dollar astronomical program aimed at developing space technology, helps people search for planets similar to Earth.
  3. Finally, Breakthrough Starshot , one of the 100 million USD super projects of the physics king Stephen Hawking and Russian billionaire. Accordingly, Breakthrough Starshot is expected to launch a series of Starchip micro-spacecraft on Alpha Centauri to find life beyond Earth.

Hopefully in the near future, we will listen to the responses of civilizations other than the Solar System.
