'Shark cafe' in the middle of the Pacific Ocean

Researchers found an area where sharks gather every year to feed on migrations along the Pacific Ocean.

Large sharks live off California migrating to the waters between Baja California, Mexico and Hawaii, USA. It is a 260-kilometer area with a nickname of a white shark cafe , according to IFL Science.

Researchers from Monterey Bay Aquarium and Stanford University tagged more than 30 white sharks with satellite tracking devices and followed them on the sea during the migration season in April this year to understand the cause. they leave warm waters full of seals and sea lions.

On the way to the cafe, the white sharks dived to 915, using warm currents to help move down the water column. When reaching the destination in late winter and early spring, sharks begin to dive and plunge into a V-shape, diving to a depth of 100-200 meters at night. During the day, they dive 450 meters to cold water and low oxygen.

"This is the largest migration of animals on Earth, a longitudinal migration is counted according to the light cycle. During the day, sharks swim down to where there is light, and at night, they come closer to the surface, to warmer waters, more food is covered by darkness, " said researcher Salvador Jorgensen.

Located more than 2,200km east of Hawaii in the North Pacific subtropical flow, one of the planet's largest bio-communities, the area is influenced by California ocean currents (bringing rich, cold seawater). nursing along the west coast of the United States). Although the satellite image indicates that this is a poor nutrient area, the behavior of the white shark reveals what is hidden below, thought to be large plankton, fish, squid, and jellyfish.
