The scene was quickly assigned to local archaeologists and Durham University. According to Dr. David Mason, chief archaeologist at Durham County Council, the results of the analysis surprised them completely: the remains date from about 90 BC to 60 AD, 2,110 - 1,960 years ago.

Based on Durham city history and previous archaeological findings in the area, this is the oldest citizen of the city ever excavated. The time around 2,000 years ago in England was the Iron Age. The fact that humans had settled in Durham since the Iron Age - the Roman occupation until now is only a hypothesis and the recently excavated remains have supported that hypothesis.

The remains are still unknown as male or female, were cremated before being buried.

During the Middle Ages, one of the three main roads leading to Durham's large medieval market passed by this very piece of Claypath, so finding the remnants of man and ancient civilization here is not an era. hard to understand.
