Stamping automobile shell with virtual technology mold

For the first time, scientists of the Department of Pressure Machining - Hanoi University of Technology - have researched and designed the manufacture of automobile shell molds with " virtual technology ". This success has opened up a new development direction in the field of design and manufacture of die-casting molds that are still weak in our country.

Although the automobile and motorbike assembly industry in Vietnam in recent years has been quite developed in line with the process of economic integration and meeting consumer demand. But in the field of designing and manufacturing large-scale and complex shapes of shells, especially details of automobile covers, is a new issue in our country and is a difficulty for automobile manufacturing and manufacturing industry. Because so far in Vietnam, there are no units that can manufacture car tires.

The design of stamping technology processes, the design and fabrication of automotive casing has many unique features and high technical requirements compared to conventional details. Therefore, appropriate technological measures are needed in design and manufacturing.

Not to mention the automobile assembly and assembly factories with joint ventures with foreign and domestic invested technology in shell stamping, all other automobile production units such as Ngo Gia Tu and 8-3. . are either imported or shelled by manual method. With traditional casing technology, factories that use the model to stamp out repeatedly, time and cost can produce a standard shell.

By digital (virtual) molding simulation technology and computerized simulated stamping process, it is possible to accurately identify standard parts to produce a complete mold set . The whole process of designing and processing is using Pro Egineer, Pro Cast, EdgeCam software . to simulate the deformation process, find the optimal plan of appropriate technology design and mold corresponding stamping. After programming on a computer, with a hydraulic press of 1,000 tons, the stamping mold will produce the vehicle details from the simplest to the most complex in the most optimal way, avoiding the trial production process many times, and more cost saving and labor.

Dr Nguyen Dac Trung, deputy head of the department said: Normally, a complicated car detailing takes about four weeks with three skilled mottled workers but it is difficult to meet the sample requirements. With virtual molding technology, including the time of taking in, out and stamping workpieces, only three minutes can produce a product that meets the sample standard with negligible errors.

This technology not only applies to the construction of simple car parts, but even new complex cars such as Toyota, Ford, BMW or even Mescedes can meet the requirements.

Immediately after successful research, this technology has been applied to Factory Z551 - Ministry of Defense to manufacture the details of the back, front, high, and front of the car CH551 and has produced thousands Satisfactory products.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Duc Binh - Deputy Director of the Z551 factory said that the factory has applied this technology to stamp big and complicated details for Russian standard Z551 cars, which have to be done until now. public or enter. And more importantly, the factory has been able to proactively control equipment and products each time they repair cars. Because every time you want to repair the ear or forehead, you have to enter it with very high stamping costs or manual mounds are very time-consuming, as these are complex details, the profile is not the same as the sample.

With the cost of technology installation only 1/3 of the import (about VND 800 million / set of mold), this technology is completely suitable for domestic production conditions while ensuring quality and aesthetic . Not only that, this success has once again affirmed the capacity of Vietnamese scientists' team when approaching the requirements, requiring science and technology qualifications in integration.

Recently, Korean and Japanese enterprises surveyed the level of automobile shell stamping in Vietnam, learned about this technology and noted that they would cooperate with the automobile shell in Vietnam. Particularly, a Japanese company has asked the Department to train students specializing in automobile case stamping so that when they graduate, they will work.
