Strange stories about people without brains
In the history of world medicine, there have been hundreds of cases of living with a hollow skull literally, ie there is no inner brain. These people have no brain or brain that has been completely destroyed. But they still live and work like ordinary people.
>>> Strange stories are true about the human brain
Recently, the French medical journal Lancet published an article about a strange case: Dr. Lionel Feullet of Timone Hospital (Marseille) was surprised to find a 44-year-old man living normal like everyone else but has a small brain that is almost as small as it is.
The married man and these two children were hospitalized because he felt his left leg was weak. After a CT scan (CTscan) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the doctor sees that his ventricles are enlarged, while the brain (ie gray matter and white matter) is not visible.
Lack of brain does not affect the development of the body.
In fact, this patient has suffered from hydrocephalus since he was 6 months old. So, maybe for a very long time this man lived with an empty head. Dr. Feuillet said: 'The lack of brain has not hindered his development.'
What catches attention is that such strange cases are not too rare. In 1935, during treatment for a mathematics student at the University of Sheffield, he was often ill. When taking CAT-scans, Professor Lorber found that the young man had absolutely no brain.
Perhaps the two hemispheres must fill the skull with a depth of 4 - 5cm, but this student only has 1mm of brain tissue covering the top of the spine. No one understands how this guy is still living normally and also has an IQ of 126, is very good at school, has won an honorary degree in mathematics.
In 1970, the young man died at the age of 35. When autopsy, doctors were again surprised to find that he had no brain. Professor Lorber said he met many cases of people without hemispheres who were still very smart and good. In some people, though the brain is almost nonexistent, their IQ still reaches 120.
Another strange thing is that there are people who have serious brain damage but still live. According to medical archives, in 1936 King Ludwig of Bavaria ordered the execution of Dietze von Schaumburg and four accomplices for rebellion. In the knight style, the king tells Dietze to say a final wish. To the astonishment of the witnesses, Dietze demanded that all death row inmates be lined up, each separated by 8 steps and begged to die first.
In some people, although their brains have almost no IQ, they can still reach 120.
Dietze insists that even if he does not have a head, he can still run past those death row inmates and if he does, the king will spare the lives of the rest. The king heard it and agreed. Dietze knelt down and put his head into the guillotine.
True to words, after his head fell, Dietze still stood up and ran in front of everyone's touch. Dietze just collapsed as he ran past the last person in the line. The king was forced to fulfill his promise and forgive the others.
New York Medical Journal, USA in 1888 also described a strange incident that happened to a sailor who drove the river. The sailor climbed the mast to tie the ligament and neglected to notice that the ship was about to glide over the bridge. The sharpened roar has severed 5-6cm of the upper part of the sailor. He was taken to an emergency hospital.
The miracle is that while the doctors had hoped to cure it, suddenly the sailor opened his eyes and asked what was happening to him. After that, he left the operating table and asked to return to the ship to work. Amazingly, the doctors decided to reassemble the broken skull to him even though the brain was severely damaged.
After 2 months of treatment, the sailor fully recovered and returned to the ship to work normally. It seemed that the head that had lost most of his brain did not affect his work. Occasionally, he just felt a little light-headed, still perfectly healthy. It wasn't until 26 years after the accident that he was paralyzed with his left arm and leg.
Idealists believe that in addition to human consciousness there is a soul.
So why do some people who have no brain or serious brain damage still live like normal people in a long time? Are their bodies controlled by any other system that we don't know? There have been many ways to explain these strange cases.
One hypothesis is that in the brain there is often a large amount of preventive function, just a few surviving cells can help people perform all the functions instead of both hemispheres brain is missing. Another theory is that humans use only a very small part of the brain - about 10%. According to some scientists, the human body has 2 control systems.
A system consists of the brain, nervous system (using nerve cells to transmit data). The other system relies on endocrine glands, using specific hormones or biological substances to transmit information throughout the body. Idealists believe that in addition to human consciousness there is a soul.
It is a type of 'stockpile' that contains a program that ensures the functions of the body from the activity of the nervous system to different processes in the cell. The AND molecule holds information that creates this program. Consciousness is only the result of that program. In other words, it is the complex work of the soul. Many manifestations related to the concept of souls have been reflected and the phenomenon of people without brains or brains who still live is evidence.
