Strong earthquakes shook Mexico, 2 people were killed

A 6.5-magnitude quake struck Mexico on December 11, killing at least two people, causing power outages in many areas of the capital, and causing many to panic into the streets.

There has been no information about major damage and casualties in Mexico City, but emergency agencies say an 18-year-old youth was killed when the roof collapsed in Iguala, the small city between the capital and the resort. Acapulco cool.

A 25-year-old man also died when he rolled down a small truck on the Mexico City-Acapulco highway.

'I was so scared, I thought the earthquake would never stop,' said Laura Gonzalez, who was drinking at a bar in the capital at the time of the earthquake. The earthquake lasts up to 40 seconds.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter is about 35km away from Iguala in Guerrero and is under 65km. The quake, has an initial measuring magnitude of 6.7 richter, can be felt in other states, like Michoacan, Puebla and Hidalgo.

The earthquake caused power outages in many capital districts and a building had to be evacuated. However, Mayor of Mexico City Marcelo Ebrard said the water service, subway and airport were still operating normally.
