The magnitude 8 earthquake shook northern Peru
The strong earthquake with epicenter was located at a depth of 105km near the residential area of Peru, there is no information about casualties yet.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said a magnitude 8 earthquake occurred at 2:41 am (14:41 Hanoi time) in the area about 180km east of Moyobamba city, northern Peru.

The epicenter of the epicenter was at Loreto in the Amazon jungle, at a depth of about 105 km and shook the region of northern Peru. One person died and 18 were injured.
People in neighboring Ecuador said they could clearly feel the strong aftershocks from the earthquake that caused many buildings to shake.
"I could feel the tremor when I was in the hotel room on the 9th floor of the Peruvian capital Lima. The earthquake lasted about a minute," wrote US citizen Tum Wuttke on Twitter.
USGC initially announced a 7-magnitude earthquake, but then changed the information about its intensity. This is considered one of the strongest earthquakes in the world this year.
Peru is located on the Fire Ring, an area in the Pacific that regularly experiences earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In 2007, a strong earthquake of 7.9 degrees occurred in the west coast of the country, killing at least 337 people.
