Strong earthquake shook Japan

On the morning of September 17, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the east side of Honshu, not far from the 9-magnitude quake and devastating tsunami on March 11.

The new earthquake occurred not far from the horrific earthquake in March.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake was located at a depth of 36.2km, 108km from the coastal town of Hachinohe to the East of South East and 574km from Tokyo.

According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no risk of tsunamis with widespread devastating power, but tsunamis can still appear locally.

Immediately after the earthquake on a few minutes there was a strong aftershock of 5.2 Richter, located at a depth of about 10km and 46km from Hachinohe to the South East East. Then, at 6:11 local time, another strong 5.5 magnitude shake occurred near the area, at a depth of 19km.

There is no information about casualties and damage in this seismic.
