Turtles are concentrated in the scope of a large net, the water surface is about 200 square meters wide. The workers involved in the capture - about 50 people in the lake - tried to bring a rectangular box cage made of iron frame and steel net into the water.

This cage will be the place where Tortoise is drawn from the net.

Within an hour, the workers closed the net area, leaving an area of about 20 square meters, inside the Turtle. At times, he came out of a small net bag, but was put in.

Around 16:30, the Tortoise was driven into the blue painted steel cage . The cage is hooked into two boats to pull towards the Turtle mound. People sitting on boats dragged turtles into the mound proved very excited, just rowing and singing.

When coming to the mound, Turtle was transferred from steel cage to a dedicated tank, which was dubbed the "turtle hospital".

Thousands of people flocked to the edge of Sword Lake to see the rehearsal and the process of catching Turtle today.

Uncle Nguyen Trung Kien in Minh Khai Street, Hanoi, said: "It is a good thing to have a turtle tool up, even though this should have been done earlier, a few months ago . "

Treatment and healing

Mr. Le Xuan Rao, Director of Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, said the forces rehearsed three times this morning. " After seeing all the rehearsals have been mastered, we decided to conduct the capture of the Sword Lake Turtle today, " Mr. Rao said.

This is the second time, the fishing gear is taken to Sword Lake to catch turtles. The first time it took place on March 8 was unsuccessful because the Turtle broke the net out.

A "hospital" for Tortoise was erected in the Turtle mound in the middle of the lake . Another large tank, hundreds of square meters wide made of corrugated iron, is also being constructed as a nursing facility for turtles after treatment.

Decision to catch the Sword Lake Turtle was launched from February, after many times Turtle floated to the surface with injuries on the mai, legs and neck.

The Hanoi city government has set up a special steering committee to save turtle lake, including officials of the science, technology, agriculture, veterinary and expert on this animal.

According to the steering committee, it is expected that after the treatment of wounds, Tortoise will be taken care of and monitored. The total time for both processes can range from two months to two years.

Sword of Sword Lake always attracts special attention of the public, especially those in Hanoi. Turtles associated with the legend of King Le Loi returned the god sword to the god of the gods after dissolving the foreign invaders, demonstrating the nation's desire for peace.

Sword Lake Turtle is also said to be one of the few surviving individuals of this species in the world. According to Conservation International, only four of these individuals globally are two in Vietnam and two in China. Some Vietnamese scientists even believe that Sword Lake turtle is the most unique and rare species to be preserved.

In addition to treating the Sword Lake Turtle, Hanoi City has implemented measures to improve the lake environment such as dredging, pumping more water, propagating so that people do not drop red-eared turtles - invasive animals - into the lake. .
