Keloid scars formed after surgery or trauma when the skin is "healed excessively" creates a new area of hard skin that emerges. This permanent form of injury is a consequence of muscle contraction due to the patient moving a lot during the healing process or due to swelling of the tissue under the skin.

Because it is made of 'shape-remembering' polymer , the bandage when applied to the wound will be fixed or remain in the state of the tissue during the face-to-face process. This bandage is either glued to the wound (with a special glue) or sewn or pinned to the wound during surgery.

Through mouse testing, the researchers found that the tape significantly limited the ability to leave scars on the skin.
