Targeted cancer treatment drugs of Vietnam

This is the topic of the author group under Hanoi University of Pharmacy and is one of the outstanding studies of the key state-level science and technology program in the period of 2011-2015.

Ms. Pham Thi Minh Hue, the project leader, said the research team has mastered the technology of producing cancer treatment and antifungal drugs in the form of new generation doxorubicin and amphotericin B liposome ( target medicines ) in the laboratory scale. test, with a price of only 25-30% compared to the same drug produced in the US.

Cancer cells are effectively destroyed by this new drug.

According to the research team, there are three new points in this product and thus the work has been published in three international journals. It is the nanolyposone technology (lyposone in nano form) , the drug is transmitted through intravenous and adjuvants close to the cell membrane, as a carrier to release drugs more effectively.

Through testing on mice carrying human cancer cells, with cells of the lung, colon, tongue and prostate cancer, it showed that the drug helps reduce tumor size clearly, equivalent to imported target drug products. In comparison with normal products, the ratio of live mice after treatment with new research drugs is much higher.

Representatives of the Drug Administration of Vietnam said that currently Vietnam has 3-4 drugs that work together to treat the above cancer groups and the same generation of targeted drugs, successful research in Vietnam opens up production opportunities The production of new generation products in Vietnam and reducing the cost of treatment is very expensive, many poor patients do not have the opportunity to use new generation drugs.

Ms. Hue said that the Ministry of Science and Technology has planned to support the second phase of this study, the aim is to produce drugs on a large scale, conduct clinical trials on humans, try bioequivalence and bring drugs to market.
