Dr. Charoen Chuchottaworn, an avian influenza specialist from the Thai Ministry of Health, said doctors had concluded the case after considering the medical history of the last two cases of bird flu - both patients had Avian flu symptoms are unclear and have never been exposed to birds or chickens.
One of the victims was a boy in Bangkok and the other was an 18-year-old boy from Nonthaburi province, according to the Nation issue today.
Doctors did not find clues where patients became infected with the H5N1 virus. This also shows that bird flu has spread from a seriously infected person to a milder person.
Dr. Charoen said the milder symptoms of bird flu make it more difficult for doctors to diagnose the disease , so more labs should be equipped with more advanced devices to confirm the case. and decide if patients should be treated with Tamiflu. He also said this means that current bird flu could become asymptomatic.
According to Charoen, Thailand currently lacks the means against H5N1. Currently the country has about 1 million tablets of Tamiflu that are enough to treat 100,000 people, while according to the assessment, the country needs about 120 million tablets.
Thailand had seven patients with bird flu detected when they went to the hospital for treatment, but doctors believe there are still many cases with unclear symptoms of the disease.
