The 11-year-old student invented a bulletproof backpack

The Mexican boy spent his time researching bulletproof backpacks to protect children from the ongoing shooting incidents where he lives.

At the Expociencias science fair in Tamaulipas state (Mexico), young boy Juan David Hernandez (11) introduced his bulletproof backpack, Business Insider said.

The male student said the backpack includes bulletproof, anti-theft warning, and navigation device connected to the parent's phone. It weighs about 5kg.

In addition, the product is large enough for users to hide behind, when shootings take place.

In recent years, the security situation in Tamaulipas has become unstable, criminal groups are constantly operating.

People (especially children) face the risk of losing their lives when the sight of cars burning up along the road to prevent police or interstate battles regularly takes place.

The state government even had to organize gunfighting sessions in the local school to protect students.

"You never know if you will hit a bullet or if you accidentally get lost in the middle of a firefight. So I focused on designing the device that can protect myself and your classmates from clashes. " 11-year-old male student said.

Juan said his students often had to lie down on the floor of the classroom when the shootings broke out next to the school.

He hopes this backpack will contribute to the safety of children when they go to school. Juan David Hernandez expects this product to cost $ 48-72.

However, this is not entirely a new idea. In fact, some US shooting schools also provide bulletproof backpacks and protective bags for students.
