The 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite plunges into the Australian farm

The 1.15kg brick debris of 4.56 billion years old meteorite was found in Perth, Australia.

Members of the Desert Bridge Network (DFN) group of Curtin University found a brick-shaped fragment of a brick-shaped meteorite , weighing 1.15 kg on the northeastern farm in Perth, Australia, and Guardian on November 21 reported.

The meteorite is thought to be about 4.56 billion years old , older than Earth, falling to the ground on October 31. According to Professor Phil Bland, DFN founder, four cameras of the group located in Perenjori, Northam, Badgingarra and Hyden tracked the path of meteorites, so they could calculate its fall position.

"The fragment found is a new, untouched and weathered specimen," described Martin Towner, from the Applied Geology Department, Curtin University.

The team estimates the initial size before falling to the current larger meteorite atmosphere about 50-100 times. It fell at a free speed when it crashed into Earth, the speed of movement similar to a stone thrown from a high-rise building.

Under Australian law, meteorite fragments are owned by the state and the Western Australian Museum will be the preservation of artifacts.
