The ability to recognize cyber attacks in Vietnam is still low

Mr. Vu Quoc Thanh, Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Information Security Association said that the ability to recognize attacks of Vietnamese website administrators is currently low.

The above information was given in the Information Security Day 2010, which took place on November 23 in Hanoi.

According to Mr. Thanh, there are more and more attacks with the purpose of being profitable, organized and international.

After surveying 500 organizations to assess the level of awareness and technology application to ensure information security, Mr. Thanh said that over 20% of respondents did not know their system had been attacked online.

In addition, many organizations do not quantify the damage when being attacked. When being attacked by the network, most of them only reported internally, not many units reported to legal agencies and rescue organizations.

Colonel Tran Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the High-tech Crime Prevention Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), said most organizations already have websites that provide information and services but have not built a solution. overall security. Most do not detect hackers illegally intruding, stealing data.

Commenting on high-tech crime, Mr. Hoa said that the trend of cybercrime is clearly international. The number of attacks is increasing rapidly, the most common being attacks on websites with security holes.

Therefore, Mr. Hoa said that there should be a policy of decentralization, strict access management, human resource training as well as a policy to record and save log files to detect and investigate the source of attack.

In addition, organizations with websites need to develop a mechanism to coordinate with high-tech crime prevention police, computer emergency rescue centers and network security centers to promptly handle incidents.
