The alarm application is tracked from the satellite
A new smartphone app will alert users when and what kind of satellite may be watching them from the air.
Orbit Logic, a company based in Greenbelt, Maryland, has developed an application on the iPhone, which will allow users to send a notification when a spy satellite is hovering above them, though it is in the way. that's hundreds of kilometers.
The map display application shows that users are within reach of COSMO-SkyMed-1 satellite - (Photo: Orbit Logic).
Displayed on the screen as a map, the SpyMeSat application provides the trajectory of regular satellites, and alarms when satellites pass by where the user is standing.
All of the satellites that appear on SpyMeSat are located in the lower Earth's orbit, at an altitude of about 805km, according to SPACE.com.
Observation satellites such as GeoEye, France's SPOT-5, CartoSat-2A of India, WorldView of DigitalGlobe and RADARSAT-2 of Canada.
The application uses public information about the orbits of commercial and international satellites, including NORAD, under the US Aerospace Defense Command.
This means that SpyMeSat does not include active satellites in the strictest form.
